I started photography at the age of 25 and was shooting winter sports and concerts beside my fulltime job. As my family grew bigger (daughter and son) there was even less time to travel and to shoot my favorite subjects and I had to find another photographical inspiration.
As I’m living in the beautiful mountains of Salzburg, I was always struck by the beautiful scenery we are surrounded by and so one day mother nature decided to show me the outstanding spectacle of a thunderstorm right in front of our house. That was the day I knew: “You don’t have to go far away to find the perfect picture – you’ll just have to open your eyes for the beauty around you.”
And that’s exactly the way the picture was created. It was the end of August and I knew that a thunderstorm might occur this night so my family and I sat comfortably waiting for the magical spectacle to begin. At around 10pm my shot appeared in front of us.
