“A few years ago, I sailed through Alaska’s Northwest Passage. This was my favorite place on the ship, and I visited it day and night to watch the light change, impressed with how the scene never looked the same way twice. Over the course of the voyage, the clock seemed to take on an outsized significance, no longer simply showing the time, but commenting on the nature of the world itself.
I don’t usually know what I’m looking for when I photograph, but I know it when I see it. If something makes me feel, it’s a picture.”
