For over twenty years, Claudio Cambon has documented the world. A graduate of Yale, he’s studied with Richard Benson, Jo Ann Walters, Stephen B. Smith and briefly with Linda Connor at the San Fransisco Art Institute.
Shipbreak coincides with the release of his forthcoming book by the same name published by Edition Patrick Frey in Zurich and distributed in the US by RAM Publications in Santa Monica. Of this iconic image, Claudio says, “Most ships are fairly boxy in appearance, but an ice-breaker retains curved lines more like those of a sailboat. Out of the water, she looked even more organic, like some sort of whale. Though stranded, I thought she might yet swim away.”
Claudio has exhibited, lectured and been published and collected internationally and in 2011 his work was part of the Italy Pavilion at the Venice Biennale — 81 years after his grandmother and 101 years after his grandfather , both painters, last exhibited there.BACK TO PHOTO
