After spending time in India last year I was inspired by the vibrancy and rich traditional history which embodies their culture. How the ceremonial aspects and social belief systems shape their everyday lives, and the ways in which this translates visibly through the environments you see and experience. This image draws on those insights and presents them in a new way.
Flowers have been used for centuries to express emotions and to represent social celebrations, Dahlia are often used for wedding ceremonies in India, they symbolise commitment, true love and the sacred bonds which last forever and the union of families through those vows. In the West, vibrant colour and flowers are often considered to be feminine, in the East this is not the case, and gender is not applied in the same way. I was interested in the fluid nature of how flowers represent different things around the world.
