DETAILS:

On assignment for a National Geographic Magazine lightning story in 1991, I shot natural and triggered lightening around the world. At Cape Canaveral (Kennedy Space Center), Florida, researchers launched a rocket into an overhead thundercloud, causing a lightning strike. A fine copper wire trailing from the rocket creates a path for the cloud’s electric charge.
